Jim Masterson

Jim Masterson, co-founder of M&N, graduated from Indiana University in 1989 with a degree in finance. Masterson began his career trading stocks in Manhattan for Bob Kantor at ETG in 1991. Two years later, Ray Cahnman, a renowned trader who had successfully traded U.S. Treasury futures since 1975, gave Jim the opportunity to trade in the five-year pit at the Chicago Board of Trade. In 1994, Jim became the first “local” trader in Chicago to obtain a “Project A” terminal from the Chicago Board of Trade—the exchange’s first foray into electronic trading. One year later Jim joined forces with Dave Northey and founded M&N Trading, LLC. Jim has served on the Chicago Board of Trade’s Floor Governor’s Committee and currently serves on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s Probable Cause Committee. At M&N, Jim actively trades the U.S. Treasury Yield Curve, grain futures, and Eurodollar futures.
